The Academy of Public Health Services, headquartered in Düsseldorf is an educational institution under public law. The academy is financed by the:
- Capital City of Berlin,
- Ste of Brandenburg,
- Free Hanseatic City of Bremen,
- Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg,
- State of Hesse,
- State of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern
- State of Lower Saxony,
- State of North Rhine-Westphalia,
- State of Rhineland-Palatinate and
- State of Schleswig-Holstein
The objective of the Academy is provision of basic and advanced training courses as well as continuing education of employees in public health services and applied public health research. In addition to training courses, the academy organises annually more than 100 single- and multi-day training events for employees of the public health service with specialised occupations, as well as multi-professional topics and problem-centred trainings.
The guiding principles of the academies work is set out by a board of trustees, including the heads of the health authorities of the states that are parties to the academy constituting treaty.
